Getting Wet!!

The Wet Look

Here is a before and after shot of Gypsy (sun conure). She had taken a bath in her water bowl and managed to get thoroughly soaked.

Chirp's First Bath

George shares the story of this picture of Chirps first bath: Unbelievable. Chirp just took his first bath. After 7 months of wanting nothing to do with water (other than the occasional wet towel surfing), Chirp was at the sink as my mother rinsed some breakfast dishes. He climbed down her arm and went under the faucet. He seemed to really enjoy it and stayed there for several minutes, shivering and getting thoroughly drenched. This amazed me because I thought he'd never take a bath. I guess he just decided it was finally the right time -- once every 7 months whether he needs it or not. :-)

Bailey's Bath

Betty describes Bailey's bath:
My birds all seem to like the cold water for baths. I make the bird room warm and give them cold water to bathe in. Bailey loves a large dog bowl that is sturdy enough to sit on the side and it won't tip over. He jumps in and out, runs up to the top of the cage, back down jumps in and out again. Then, there are days he wont go near it.

Harley's Bath
and Basking
Vicki syas Harely LOVES the water! When he hears the water running he squawks to get in the sink. He hops around in the sink and walks under the faucet which has a sprayer on it. When I try to get him out, he growls at me and doesn't want to come out. Eventually, once I've turned the water off, he'll come out. Then he loves to towel & hair surf to dry off .

Gypsy's Sink Shower

This is Gypsy enjoying a shower. When we first brought Gypsy home she would bathe in her water bowl a couple of times a week. Now she rarely (if ever) bathes in the water bowl. She has discovered bathing in the sink. I was able to get a shot of her nearly falling asleep. She does this all the time. When I tried to time her once, I counted to 54 seconds before a noise caused her to open her eyes. She so loves to take a shower.
In this photo Gypsy is attempting to shower with Cleo. She has learned that this is not possible. While Gypsy will sit under the water just taking in the pleasure of feeling the water sprinkle onto her back and wings, Cleo jumps in and out of the water frantically. Cleo totally disrupts Gypsy's shower. This does not make for a pleasant, relaxing, time for Gypsy.

Bandi's Shower & Foot Massage

Click the picture of Bandi to see a slide show of her enjoying a shower.

Lin describes Bandi's foot massage:
Bandi sticks her foot on the shower head for a massage, and alternates with the other foot!! She runs back and forth and does the little caique tail swish. It really is cute! She also likes to whistle in the shower.

After The Bath

Sun Drying

Snuggling in a Towel
After Cleo has towel surfed for a bit, she likes to stand on the windowsill, soak up the sun, and watch the world go by.
Aww! Bandi looks so precious. It is time for a good snuggle after towel surfing. Towel surfing is SO tiring!!
